U.S. Customs (CBP) is transitioning to the use of Centers of Excellence and Expertise (CEE), where a specific CEE will review entries from different ports for a commodity, in the past each CBP port office would review the entries where goods imported (regardless of commodity). We are seeing a change in the routing of CBP Requests for Information (CBP Form 28) and Notice of Actions (CBP Form 29). Traditionally when at the port level, CBP Forms 28 and 29 were provided to the Importer with a courtesy copy to the Customs Broker. This is happening less and less, and when the courtesy copy is provided to the Customs Broker, a delay is occurring in receipt of the notice from CBP. If you receive a CBP Form 28 or 29, please ensure it is addressed immediately, and provide a copy to your Trans American Account Manager for review and advice as these are time sensitive documents.
