Los Angeles – Long Beach Expect Adequate Chassis Supply for Peak Season
Equipment providers in Southern California expect to have a sufficient supply of chassis for the peak season of late summer-autumn. Stan Portlock, Vice President of Intermodal at Flexi-Van said, “There can always be a wild card, but it looks a lot better than 2016”, and that chassis providers have a “significant inventory cushion” that should get them through the peak season. Per Ron Joseph, Senior Vice President of Direct ChassisLink, the Hanjin bankruptcy of 2016 crippled the supply chain, with approximately 8,000 chassis idled last autumn because Hanjin containers occupied them, “We won’t have that this year” he said.
