Turkey – GSP Renewal and Increase in Section 232 Steel Tariffs
Effective August 13, imports with a country of origin of Turkey covered under the Section 232 steel tariffs have been increased from 25% to 50%. In other Turkey related news, the United States Steel Representative (USTR) has issued a review of eligibility of Turkey to participate in the General System of Preferences (GSP) program. Food & Drug Administration issued Guidance Documents on Food Facility Registration
The FDA has issued two guidance documents to help food facilities meet their registration requirements under the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. These include the seventh edition of “Guidance for Industry: Questions and Answers Regarding Food Facility Registration”, and a “Supplemental Questions and Answers Regarding Food Facility Registration”. Government of Canada Takes Further Steps to Prevent Diversion of Steel Products Into Canada
On August 14, Department of Finance Canada provided advice that additional steps are being taken to prevent diversion of steel products into Canada, with advice that comments regarding possible safeguard action can be submitted for their review until August 29.
