Hurricane Irma made landfall on parts of the Dominican Republic and Haiti on Thursday morning as a Category 5 hurricane as it heads toward the Bahamas and Florida. The storm is the most powerful ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean with winds exceeding over 185 miles per hour. It’s so strong it is even showing up on scales for measuring earthquakes.
Trans American’s offices in Florida may be closed if government agencies mandate evacuation and closures of nonessential businesses due to Hurricane Irma, however Trans American’s Central processing system for import and export shipments will not be impacted.
Trans American’s disaster recovery and contingency plan was initiated earlier today from our network of regional processing centers in areas not affected by the hurricane. We do not anticipate any service delays with our processing due to the hurricane, but understand imports/exports into the area may have delayed Customs releases and deliveries due to U.S. Customs closures, road closures, and power outages resulting from this powerful storm.
Through this bulletin, we also wish to extend a helping hand to provide any Customs Brokerage & Logistics services needed for anyone in Irma’s path. Trans American is the only Customs & Logistics company in North America with a central processing system that is backed with a Total Performance Guarantee.
If we can assist you in any way, including providing services that your local office would perform, but is unable to due to the hurricane, please contact us at (800) 333-0465 extension 5523.
