Trade Analysts believe that rules of origin will be one of the bigger issues involved in renegotiation, with the U.S. looking for higher North American content on qualifying goods. Mexico and Canada have pushed back on the U.S. proposal to raise the de minimis level to the U.S. $800 threshold. It is hoped that the renegotiations will conclude by the end of 2017.
