North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Renegotiation
In a recent press conference during the fourth round of NAFTA talks, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland said there was a “good distance” between Canadian and U.S. positions on automotive rules of origin, Canadian dairy supply management, dispute panels, government procurement, and the U.S. proposal for a sunset clause in NAFTA that would automatically expire the agreement after five years unless all parties agree to extend it. Ms. Freeland said demands by the U.S. were troubling and unconventional. CBC News article: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/nafta-freeland-lighthizer-round4-1.4358242
