The National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) recently wrote a letter and issued a white paper to U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) on the on-going issues with the transition to CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). In the white letter, the NCBFAA states, “While CBP has made great strides over the last few years in ACE development, we are still in need of additional critical developments to make ACE functional”. The NCFBAA also calls for more transparency and predictability with its schedule of updates. The NCBFAA has found that “CBP’s current ACE system is not capable of consistently providing a stable release date for goods clearing the border”.
