On Friday, March 23, the President signed into law H.R. 1625, the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2018,” which in addition to providing full-year federal appropriations through September 30, 2018, extended GSP with retroactivity, from January 1, 2018, through December 31, 2020. The effective date of the Act is April 22, at which time U.S. Customs system will be updated to obviate the duty payment. Shortly after April 22, U.S. Customs will begin refunding GSP duties without interest.
