Beneficial cargo owners that utilize the Canadian National Railway were prepared for delays as the union representing conductors and yard workers announced a strike that was to begin on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. The strike was in response to the railroad seeking concessions from union members even though the railroad has posted yearly profits. The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) and the railway reached a last minute agreement and the strike was canceled.
