Further to our December 29, 2017 article on the alcohol excise tax cuts for 2018 and 2019, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) posted information at their website: https://www.ttb.gov/alcohol/craft-beverage-modernization-and-tax-reform.shtml
On December 22, 2017, the President signed into law the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which makes extensive changes to the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, including provisions related to alcohol that are administered by TTB. The changes are effective January 1, 2018. TTB is currently assessing the impact of these changes on TTB forms, regulations, and systems, and will update with additional guidance and information as it becomes available.
U.S. Customs ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) is currently only accepting rates and payments at 2017 schedule. We will provide update when available from TTB and when U.S. Customs systems are updated to accept new rates, with advice on any refunds for import goods on payments made at 2017 schedule.
