On September 5, President Trump advised Congress that the administration plans to reach a trade agreement with Mexico and potentially with Canada. The U.S. – Canada talks have restarted, Canada’s Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, commenting “The atmosphere today has continued to be constructive and cordial”. Major sticking points (Such as Section 232 Tariffs on steel and aluminum, dairy and Chapter 19) still exist though with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau saying that “We will not sign a deal that is bad for Canadians”.
